Im really loving all these dark texan rich tastes at the moment i saw this recipe in the good to know recipes magazine and thought i would tweak it a little we had this with my pulled pork and it went really well for a second meal on jacket potatoes so well worth making for saving money.
4 slices of smoked bacon chopped up
1 onion sliced finely
1 400g can of cannelloni beans drained
1 400g tin of bake beans
2tbsp black treacle
75g brown sugar
1tbsp english mustard
1 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
300ml beef stock
using a deep pan on the stove or you can put it into a casserole dish whichever you prefer.
Fry the onion in the oil along with the bacon till soft and tender and the bacon is crispy.
Then pour in the cannelloni beans, baked beans, treacle, sugar, mustard, paprika and tomatoes add the beef stock and mix well cover the pan with a lid and simmer on the hob for 2 hours stirring occasionally or if your placing in the oven transfer the mix into a suitable casserole dish and again stirring occasionally. This will keep for a good week in the fridge and you can freeze any left over so a win win recipe.
I really enjoyed this recipe if you wanted you could add any bean like kidney or even butter beans just use what you like and tweak to your own tastes.
