Chilli is a big favourite in my house and I normally buy the home pride sauce but not this time Ive adapted jamies chilli con carne from the Jamie’s Ministry of food I found some really good chuck steak in my butchers which is beautiful and has a lot more flavour than mince it seemed like more of a hearty meal.
This recipe will serve a good 4 adults.
1 large onion
1 clove of garlic
2 medium carrots
2 sticks of celery
1 heaped teaspoon chilli powder
1 heaped teaspoon ground cumin
1 heaped teaspoon ground cinnamon
sea salt and black pepper
1 tin of Bake beans and there juice
1x 400g tin of kidney beans drained
2x 400g chopped tomatoes
500g Chuck Steak blitzed in a food processor or Beef Mince
2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
tub of guacamole
a few wedges of lime
bowl of natural yoghurt
Peel and chop the onions,carrots, celery and garlic really fine I blitz mine in the food processor.
Put the biggest pan you have on medium to high heat with good glut of olive oil and gently cook the chopped veg add the cumin,cinnamon and chilli a stir altogether and allow to cook until lightly golden and soften takes about 5 mins.
Add the kidney bean, tins of tomatoes and bake beans give a good stir and simmer gently.
I roughly cut up the chuck steak and blitz this in the food processor till nice a fine.
In a separate pan i cook the chuck steak until browned off then add it to the sauce and stir in then add a good pinch of sea salt and pepper and the balsamic vinegar. bring to the boil and turn the heat down and simmer for about 30 mins to 40 mins keep stirring every now and then to stop it catching.
You can serve this with fresh Bread, Rice or even Jacket potatoes.
I like to out the lime wedges, guacamole and yoghurt in the middle of the table for everyone to help themselves.
