My day with Jo Wheatley

Well, the day finally came for my mothers day present this year I got a ticket for an afternoon demo with Jo Wheatley (2011 British bake off Winner) at her home in Essex.

Ive liked Jo since the bake off and have both of her books (which she kindly signed) and I love her food blog, Jo’s take on baking and cooking is great to follow and inspiring. Here is her Blog Jos Blue Aga

On the day there was about 12 of us who attended which was really nice as you got to meet other like minded people.

We were welcomed into the conservatory with tea and coffee followed by a yummy lemon and blueberry pound loaf with a yummy topping.

Then for the Demo which was held in Jo’s Dining room which we all sat round this beautiful dining table at one end and Jo had a big table at the other end.

Jo demonstrated how to make little crisp bread little bitesize treats with fillings of goats cheese and beetroot and avocado and quails eggs which she did make look really easy. And I will be trying to make them myself They were so tasty and you can adapt them with whichever filling suits you it is such a fab idea.

We had a demo on making cranberry and Wensleydale cheese twists which were so good Im already thinking of different ones to make.

We watched Jo make lime and coconut scones along with lemon moose tarts, chocolate bombs for our afternoon tea and to finish a chocolate Mud cake which looked good and tasted so yummy too.

I had a brilliant day and met some lovely people and have taken so much from the day and lots of ideas for my own bakes. A really good day that I would love to do again one day.
